Back Tracking...April 2012

So after an online application and two phone interviews, I was offered an in-person interview.  Upon entering The Standard Hotel in Downtown Los Angeles, I felt confident.  I know I am a great teacher and I have so much passion for English, education, and the positive growth of our future leaders!  But once I got to the floor where I would submit my documents and have my interview, I lost all confidence and was shaking in my boots.  EVERYONE was older than I was, and had so much more experience...needless to say, I was intimidated and just KNEW I was not going to get the job.

Luckily, there was a young woman who was interviewed before me, and upon seeing her (plus a couple prayers) I got my confidence back.  The interview went smoothly...the one question that always replays in my mind is: "These young ladies grow up knowing that they will get married, have children, and shop.  How will you make English relevant/important to them?"  To which I responded with "THE CORRECT" answer, if there was one :)

Weeks went by...I was told I would get a response in less than two weeks, but of course that flew by! Finally, it was time for Spring Break vacation (three weeks after the in-person interview).  I took my brother and sister to Universal Studios in Orlando, and we had a blast!  When we got back to the hotel we went to the pool, but as I walked towards the door to the pool I got a call...THE CALL!

I GOT THE JOB!  MY DREAM JOB!

For the next two years I will live in the United Arab Emirates, more specifically ABU DHABI, and will be teaching ENGLISH :)

My sister, Domonique (20), ME and my brother, Chaz (17), in front of the Universal Studios globe, the day I got my job offer!
